Jamie Cairns
RECOVERY PEET SPECIALIST | MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATE
With a deep commitment to personal and professional growth, I have dedicated my life and my career to supporting individuals in recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. My own journey of overcoming addiction, combined with personal and professional experience and my academic background, fuels my passion for helping others find their path to wellness.
Since getting sober on October 30, 2021, I have worked in various roles and capacities including offering peer support, case management, and outreach services to at-risk populations. My experiences have allowed me to connect with those navigating recovery and their families, providing guidance, empathy, and a listening ear.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and have completed two years of master’s-level education in Mental Health Counseling. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) to deepen my expertise and expand my ability to create meaningful, lasting change in the lives of those I serve.
In my professional role as a Peer Specialist, I bring a combination of lived experience and formal education to offer holistic support tailored to each individual’s needs. Whether through direct one-on-one support and coaching, benefits assistance, offering resources and referrals, or coordination of care efforts, I am committed to empowering others to break free from the cycle of addiction and reclaim their lives.
Outside of my work, I am passionate about photography and creative writing, finding healing and expression in both art forms. I am also an avid reader and have a love of learning that encompasses continuing education and increasing my knowledge.
Through these outlets, I continue to grow and reflect on my journey, always looking for new ways to inspire, educate, inform, support, and uplift others on their paths.
