Overall impression of this opportunity:
The Peer Recovery Specialist is responsible for answering inbound calls for the Central Florida Recovery Resource Hotline.  They will receive hotline calls and connect with people seeking support by aiding them in navigating local resources and sharing their personal recovery experiences.  Additionally, they will update information for the online Central Florida Recovery Resource guide.

How you will help our community:

  • Share their personal experiences in recovery with individuals calling the Central Florida Recovery Resource Hotline for support
  • Log related assessment and outcome data for each hotline call
  • Ensure the online Central Florida Recovery Resource guide is updated regularly to reflect current community support and accurate contact information
  • Meet with peers one-on-one on an ongoing basis
  • Other duties as needed

The experience we hope you have:

  •  Hold a current certification as Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS), comparable national certification for Recovery Peer Support Services, or eligibility and willingness to receive certification within one year.
  •  Substantial experience working with individuals with Substance Use Disorder and addiction recovery
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills
  •  Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office software, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  •  Passion for supporting those struggling with addiction and seeking recovery
  •  Availability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous hotline experience (Preferred)

Part time (18-24hours) Flexible Schedule

Recovery Connections of Central Florida is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) that serves the Central Florida community. Our vision is “a Central Florida where those seeking recovery have access to needed resources and support”.

To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized, have great time management skills and a sharp eye for detail, be a resourceful problem solver and eager to be part of something bigger.  Ultimately, you will contribute to the efficiency of our organization by providing accurate and timely support to the executive team. 

Work Activities and Duties

  • Provide executive director and management team support
  • Prioritize inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts with little guidance
  • Schedule and manage group meeting calendars
  • Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manage executives’ calendars and set up meetings
  • Format information for internal and external communication
  • Make judgments and recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Prepare weekly, monthly or quarterly reports as needed
  • Manage office supply inventory and expenses

Competencies and Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization, confirming your ability to work with confidential information, attention to detail, communication skills, initiative and common sense.

Strong Internet research skills, with high proficiency in MS Office applications preferred.
